Position: Project Environmental/ Groundwater Engineer I
Locations: Davis only
Salary: Determined commensurate with education and experience

We are seeking motivated individuals who are looking for varied experience in groundwater, water, wastewater, and stormwater quality engineering.  Entry-level and post entry level positions lead to promotion and corresponding expanded client duties and professional responsibilities.  We are looking for persons to perform engineering duties related to water quality and NPDES permitting; ground water investigations, ground water modeling, data analysis, control measure development, and report preparation.  The successful candidate will work with senior supervision and other professional staff on projects that may include: surface and ground water monitoring, surface and ground water quality studies; groundwater management plans; wastewater treatment plant strategic planning; water, sewer & drainage system hydraulic modeling; reclamation/reuse; NPDES permitting; and related civil/environmental engineering projects.

Qualifications:

  • Masters or Ph.D degree in hydrologic sciences, civil or environmental engineering, or a related field,includinggroundwater and numerical modeling coursework
  • Three to five years experience in the environmental engineering industry
  • Experience with conceptual model development, and numerical modeling of surface water and groundwater, at site-specific to regional scales
  • Comfortable using LINUX/UNIX operating system
  • GIS mapping with Arcview 3.x and 8.x, Spatial Analyst preferred
  • Familiar with methods used to collect and analyze groundwater and environmental data
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of water quality control principles and physical, biological and chemical factors relating to control of water pollution and quality, and management of surface water and groundwater (recommended)

We are seeking motivated individuals who are looking for varied experience in the development and implementation of regulations and policies for surface water, wastewater, and stormwater quality.  Entry-level and post entry level positions lead to promotion and corresponding expanded client duties and professional responsibilities.  We are looking for persons to perform duties related to water quality and NPDES permitting, TMDL development and implementation, evaluation of nutrient and other water quality criteria, surface water quality investigations and bioassessment, watershed modeling, data analysis, and report preparation.  The successful candidate will work with senior supervision and other professional staff on projects that may address biogeochemical cycles, algal and food web dynamics, water quality assessment and monitoring, bioassessment, aquatic toxicity, contaminant source assessment, watershed balances and fate and transport of nutrients and other constituents, site-specific criteria development, and other areas of nexus between water quality regulation and aquatic ecology.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in aquatic ecology, with coursework and laboratory or fieldwork addressing aspects of aquatic ecosystem function at multiple trophic levels.
  • Coursework (including laboratory experience) in methods for assessing aquatic toxicity.
  • GIS mapping with Arcview 3.x and 8.x, Spatial Analyst preferred
  • Experience with methods used to collect and analyze surface water and environmental data
